Insubong (Bukhansan National Park) - Intermediate Routes
Full-day (8hrs approx)

This 7-8 hour trad climbing route ascends Insubong Peak, requiring traditional climbing gear such as cams, nuts, and slings. It’s ideal for intermediate climbers with some experience at the 5.8 YDS level (French 5 or 6a).
The most common route is Godeok-gil (Lonely Road), which primarily features slab, crack, and face climbing. This is considered one of the “easier” trad routes up Insubong, making it an excellent choice for first-time trad climbers or those looking to develop their lead climbing skills.
For those seeking a greater challenge, the alternative route, Insu-B, offers grades in the 5.9 range. It presents a variety of more demanding crack and slab problems and is significantly more exposed than Godeok-gil. This route climbs directly up the center of Insubong, providing an exhilarating and rewarding experience.

10:00 am: Meet & Hike
Meet your guide at Bukhansan-ui station. (Ui-Sinseol Line). Hike and scramble for approximately 1 hour to the base of Insubong where we will begin our trad climb.
11:00 am: Climb
Receive instruction on the proper use of all safety gear, gear up and begin the first pitch. Climb 7 or 8 pitches of face climbing, friction slab climbing and crack climbing. We can stash our bags at the base of the mountain and retrieve them after the climb. We will have to rappel/abseil off the peak, so having prior experience is beneficial.
4:30 pm: Summit
Enjoy the views from the peak, take pictures and have a snack. This course is only accessible via rock climbing and we won’t experience any other hikers on the peak.
4:30 pm ~ 6:00 pm: Rappel & Hike
Rappel off the mountain, hike back to our bags, descend the trail back to the trailhead and enjoy some streams. (Time and weather dependent)

Seoraksan National Park - Intermediate Routes

Located on the east coast of Korea Seorak Mountain National Park is one of the countries premier trad climbing destinations (along with Bukhansan National Park in Seoul).
There are countless classic ridge climbs which all have fantastic views and amazing climbing on beautiful granite rock.
Available: May - October (depending on weather).

04:00 am: Meet
Meet your guide at a pre determined spot in Seoul and travel to the national park (by car).
07:00 am: Hike
Hike and scramble for approximately 1.5 hours to the base of the route where we will begin our climb.
08:30 am: Climb
Receive instruction on the proper use of all safety gear, gear up and begin the climb. Climb 11 pitches of face climbing, friction slab / crack. We will carry all of our gear, backpacks, water, and food. So, please pack accordingly.
3:30 pm: Summit
Enjoy the views from the peak, take pictures and have a snack.
4:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Rappell and Hike
One single rappel from the summit to the hikers trail and then descend the trail back to the carpark.
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Return to Seoul by car.

Insubong (Bukhansan National Park) - Classic Route, Chouinard A(Advanced)

Chouinard A is one of the most iconic multi-pitch routes on Insubong, a striking granite peak in Bukhansan National Park. First ascended by legendary alpinist Yvon Chouinard during his military service in Korea, this classic route offers a mix of crack and face climbing, making it a rewarding challenge for intermediate to advanced climbers.
Strong jamming skills are highly recommended, including techniques like hand jams, fist jams, butterfly jams, and hand/fist stacks. With solid granite, technical moves, and stunning views over Seoul, Chouinard A promises an unforgettable climbing experience.

Chuncle Ridge - Intermediate Route

Embark on an unforgettable climbing adventure along the amazing Chuncle Ridge. This 7-pitch climb nestled in the heart of the Chuncheon area, promises a day of excitement and stunning natural beauty.
As you ascend this picturesque ridge, be prepared to be enchanted by panoramic views of the valley and river below, offering a beautiful backdrop to your ascent.
With a range of grades from 5.8 to 5.10b, Chuncle Ridge is perfect for the intermediate climber.After completing the ridge, treat yourself to a well-deserved post-climb feast of Dak-galbi, a local specialty that's as satisfying as the climb itself.

Meet at Cheongnyangni station where we will take a subway train to Gangchon station. (90 mins)
8:30 am: Travel
Take a local bus to the start of the ridge climb (20mins)
9:00 am: Instruction
Receive instruction on the proper use of all safety gear.
9:30 am: Climb
Start climbing. We will carry all of our gear, backpack, food, water, etc.. on the climb. So pack accordingly.
12:00 pm: Lunch
Rest for some lunch / snacks (around pitch 4)
12:30 pm: Climb
Continue climbing the remaining pitches.
2:30pm: SummitEnjoy the views from the peak, take pictures and have a snack.
3:00 pm: Hike DownHike down from the peak (40 mins). This course doesn’t require any abseiling/rappelling and we can simply hike down from the peak.
4:00 pm: Travel
Take a local bus back to Gangchon station:
4:30 pm: TravelTake the subway back to Seoul, arrive around 6pm…
OR … stay in Gangchon and enjoy some of the local Dak-galbi and take a later train. -

Bukhansan National Park - Beginner Routes

This route explores less-traveled ridges using traditional climbing gear such as cams, nuts, and slings. It’s perfect for beginners with little to no climbing experience, offering grades in the 5.5 YDS range (French 4 or 5).
The climbing primarily consists of slab, emphasizing footwork, body positioning, and foundational safety practices. With minimal exposure and numerous walk-off points along the way, this route provides a comfortable and accessible experience for new climbers.

Meet your guide at Bulgwang station. (Line 3/6). Hike and scramble for approximately 1 hour to the base of Jokduribong where we will begin our climb.
10:00 am / 3:00 pm: Climb
Receive instruction on the proper use of all safety gear.
Climb 3 or 4 pitches of face climbing, friction slab climbing and crack climbing. We will carry all of our gear, backpack, food, water, etc.. on the
climb. So pack accordingly.11:30 am / 4:30 pm: Summit
Enjoy the views from the peak, take pictures and have a snack. This course doesn’t require any abseiling/rappelling and we can simply hike down from the peak.
12:00~1:00 pm / 5:00~6:00 pm: Hike Down
Hike down the opposite side of the mountain and enjoy a cool stream at the bottom, if time permits.

Samsungsan -
Beginner Route
3/4 day (6hrs approx)

This 5-6 hour, bolted, 5-pitch sport climb is perfect for intermediate climbers with some experience at the 5.10 YDS (French 5 or 6a) grade. However, the climb feels significantly easier than the grade suggests, making it an enjoyable challenge without being overly demanding.
The route features a short 35-minute approach and a refreshing stream at the base to cool off in after the climb.

Meet your guide at Gwanak station. (Line 1). Hike and scramble for approximately 1 hour to the base of the route where we will begin our sport climb.
11:00 am: Climb
Receive instruction on the proper use of all safety gear, gear up and begin the first pitch. Climb 4 or 5 pitches of face climbing, and friction slab climbing. We will carry all of our gear, backpacks, water, and food. So, please pack accordingly. We can walk off the peak, so no prior rappelling/abseiling experience is necessary.
2:30 pm: Summit
Enjoy the views from the peak, take pictures and have a snack.
3:00 pm ~ 4:00 pm: Hike
Hike off the mountain, descend the trail back to the trailhead and enjoy some streams. (Time and weather dependent)
